Automation/Design Checklist
Does mail piece meet aspect ratio for automation letter rates? (width\height = 1.3 to 2.5)
Does paper color allow enough contrast for bar code to work? (darker blues, greens and reds especially cause problems)
Will final dimensions be less than 6.125" tall and 11.5" wide? (outside either will bump you into higher postage)
Will finished piece be less than 3.3 ounces and less than .25" thick? (if heavier or thicker, higher postage and processing rates will apply).
If not using offset stock will the coated stock used accept ink without smearing? (most types are okay but if in doubt samples should be run).
If a 1 page self-mailer are you using at least 28#/70# paper? (minimum required for automation, 1 tab needed if final fold on bottom)
If multiple pages, is paper used at least 24#? (may use 1 tab if final fold is on bottom, 2 tabs if final fold is on top)
If multiple pages, is paper used at least 20#? (two tabs whether final fold is on the bottom or top)
If a postcard, is it at least 3.5" x 5" and no more than 4.25" x 6"? (stock must be at least 7pt. finished, if larger, then 9pt. finished)
If a reply piece is included, does it have a FIM code and the correct address bar code?
